Second training on Conflict Resolution & Reconciliation

OPENING REMARKSĀ  BY BAIDOA LOCAL AUTHORITY REPRESENTATIVE ABDULLAHI IBRAHIM

ANPPCAN-SOM organized a training on Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation Training for leaders, elders, and CSOs for two days 22nd to 23rd July 2024, in Baidoa-Ceelcadow. The training aimed to empower 30 participants (15 male and 15 female) with essential conflict resolution and reconciliation skills. The training covered foundational concepts of conflict, its causes, and levels, using tools like conflict mapping to understand local conflicts. Participants learned conflict response techniques and mediator attributes. Practical problem-solving approaches were emphasized through role-playing scenarios and negotiation practice sessions.

The impact of conflict on CSO leaders and elders was discussed, and group discussions identified community-specific actions and initiatives. The training utilized collaborative methodologies, including group discussions, conflict mapping, role-playing, and action planning. Participants practiced communication, negotiation, and mediation skills in simulated conflict scenarios. The program concluded with success stories highlighting the positive impact of CSOs, leaders, and elders on peacebuilding efforts. This training equipped participants with the knowledge and tools to foster peace and build resilient communities in Baidoa town and surrounding villages.
