Research, Monitoring and Learning

ANPPCANSOM hosts the Centre of AFRICAN RESEARCH AND MONITORING SOLUTION SOMALIA (ARMS–SOM) is specialized section of ANPPCAN SOMALIA concerned with research and independent Monitoring and Evaluation firm, with the aim of providing international development partners with consultancy services on social and economic sectors as well as generate up-to-date, timely and valuable data and information to the public and private institutions. It has clear mandate to engage bilateral and multilateral institutions and non-governmental organizations in Somalia.

Competence areas

ANPPCANSOM team of (ARMS- SOM) team solely executes MERL assignments and has proven record and experience and is a leading supplier of rigorous monitoring, evaluation, research and learning firm, and closely work with the Government, UN agencies, International Organization, Private institutions, and other donors.

Through a highly collaborative approach, we provide the geographical coverage and significant presence as we had operational offices in all the FMS and Somaliland which make easier to reach a hard to reach area; and technical MERL expertise needed to robustly cover a wide range of international development sectors including education and Health, Women empowerment programs; Peace building, and justice; Livelihoods and other humanitarian emergency or social development programs.

We work with stakeholders to understand the type of evidence required, by whom, when and for what use, so that our MERL solutions and products deliver the right data and analyses, at the right time, for the right purpose producing evidence that is reliable, meaningful, and useful.

  1. ANPPCANSOM(ARMS-SOM) April-Dec-2011 to 2022 Subcontracted by IBTCI Company to undertook the Somalia Monitoring and learning project (SMLP1) to verify and provide independent Verification of programs in Somalia funded by USAID’s OFDS & FFP, and SPSS independent Verification of programs in Somalia funded by USAID from 2014-2019.
  2. ANPPCANSOM(ARMS-SOM) October – 2022 Subcontracted by Global Integrity Company to undertook the Somalia Monitoring and learning project (SMLP2) to verify and provide independent Verification of programs in Somalia funded by USAID’s BHA 
  3. ANPPCANSOM (ARMS-SOM) July-Dec 2017 Undertook assessment of the program to improve and sustain access and utilization for women and children of integrated essential 4 – quality nutrition service.
  4. ANPPCAN-SOM (ARMS-SOM) April – August 2013 was contracted by WHO to implement the baseline assessment to support the rollout of the Essential Health Package Services (EPHS) in Banadir, Galgudud and Lower Jubba regions.
  5. ANPPCANSOM (ARMS-SOM) February – May 2014 FGM/C Program:- ANPPCANSOM undertook a baseline assessment of the prevalence of FGM in Somaliland and launched community based project titles FGM/C Abandonment in Somaliland (women to women) FGM program with UNICEF.
  6. ANPPCANSOM(ARMS-SOM) June – Dec 2011 contracted by WFP Somalia and implemented a large study focusing on the situation of food security and nutrition among AIDs and TB patients in 21 treatment Centers in Somaliland and Puntland in partnership with Ministry of Health and WFP.
  7. ANPPCANSOM (ARMS-SOM) April-Dec – 2011 Multiple indicator cluster survey MICS4:- ANPPCANSOM was contracted by UNICEF to implement MICS4 in Somaliland. The center successfully implemented the survey in all clusters.

ANPPCAN-SOM’s M&E team just wrapped up a powerful five-day training with Integrity Global in Hargeisa. From Oct 13-17, we sharpened our skills in third-party monitoring and research to better serve our communities. Together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient Somalia.
